Hearing Examinations

Audiological evaluations are non-invasive tests that measure an individual’s ability to hear different types of sounds, including pitch tones or frequencies and speech. Patients will undergo these exams to assess their level of hearing to determine the best approach to improve their hearing capability. Comfort Home Hearing Audiology brings a new, dynamic approach by delivering a full array of diagnostic and rehabilitative hearing services in the comfort of the patient’s home. Read on to understand what mobile hearing care entails and how it can help improve your hearing.

How Our Mobile Hearing Evaluation Works

The evaluation begins by getting to know you, learning about your individual hearing concerns, needs, and goals. Next, an ear examination will determine if wax or other abnormalities might be the cause of your hearing problem. We will then conduct a comprehensive hearing evaluation using advanced technologies to ensure accurate results. This will determine if you have hearing loss, detailing the type, degree, and configuration. Upon completion of the exam, we will analyze your results and explain our findings so that you have a complete understanding of your hearing and a detailed analysis of the best ways to improve your hearing health.

Possible tests to be performed

The Mobile Hearing Evaluation includes:

  • Live room noise measurement: To ensure an adequate test environment, a decibel reader will measure the ambient noise level of the room.
  • Otoscopy: A thorough examination of your ears will be conducted to determine if wax or other abnormalities might be the cause of your hearing problem.
  • Air conduction audiometry: Patients will be asked to respond when they hear a series of different pure tones, which are administered through noise-reduction headphones. Measured in decibels, the lowest intensity heard will be recorded when the patient perceives them at least 50% of the time.
  • Bone conduction audiometry: This test helps determine what type of hearing loss you have. A small device will be placed behind your ear or on your forehead and a series of pure tones will be presented. This will assess if there is a blockage from wax, fluid, or other abnormalities in the outer or middle ear cavity, which could be affecting your hearing.
  • Speech testing: You will be asked to repeat a specific set of words in a variety of sound settings to evaluate how clearly you can understand speech. This assessment will help determine the best solutions to enhance your hearing health.

When I first wore my new hearing aids from Dr. Peter I was amazed by the sound. Conversation with my family is now a pleasure. They really appreciate not having to repeat every word. My previous 3 hearing aids did not provide this satisfaction.
